Teaching Philosophy
I strive to teach students in a manner that fits their individual learning styles and interests, specializing my teaching for students with information processing differences (i.e. dyslexia). See free online course below.
I strive to teach students in ways that promote healthy, natural movement based on the principals of Body Mapping/Andover education (similar to Alexander Technique).
My studio is open to students of all ages and levels from beginner to advanced.
I am committed to arrange performance opportunities for students in person and online. (i.e., a minimum of 2 recitals per year, option to pursue RCM examinations, music festivals).
As a classically trained violinist and fiddle player, I am comfortable and experienced to teach either or both playing styles.
There is the option of group lessons with friends or family members.
Teaching music that is friendly to the neurodiverse brain is particularly important to me as a musician who has dyslexia and often struggled with note reading. During my time as a graduate student, I researched pedagogical methods that are useful for students with processing differences and composed a free online course for music educators, parents, and students alike.
